CIERA CORSO
MJR Southgate Cinema 20
Southgate, MI
Intelligent, passionate, encouraging, “a role model to her peers,” and “the type of young woman everyone wants to have around,” are words and phrases used to describe Ciera Corso, Riverview Community High School Class of 2024.
Ciera’s high school career has been nothing short of remarkable, as evidenced by her academic performance and extracurricular activities. She balanced a demanding course load, a deep commitment to the creative arts, and time spent in the color guard, playing varsity tennis, serving on student council, captaining her dance team, fulfilling the role of secretary/treasurer of the National Honors Society, tutoring and mentoring other students, and volunteering. On top of that, she worked 20 hours a week at MJR Southgate Digital Cinema 20 in Southgate, Michigan.
Corey Robbins, general manager of the cinema, commends Ciera for consistently going above and beyond, leading by example, and assisting in the training of new staff.
“Her infectious personality and drive to improve—not only as an employee, but as a person—prove to be excellent qualities of a future leader. Juggling a job, education, and sports is difficult, but it seems she is able to create a healthy balance with ease,” he said.
Ciera will be attending college in the fall to pursue a dental hygiene career.
“Working at the movie theater has provided me with unique experiences and many opportunities to benefit my future education and career goals as a dental hygienist. I have seen significant improvement in my communication skills by interacting with a diverse range of customers; my teamwork and collaboration to accomplish tasks; and effectively juggling multiple tasks simultaneously. These skills are crucial for explaining procedures and building rapport with dental patients, taking care of patients’ needs while handling various responsibilities, and collaborating with dentists, assistants, and other healthcare professionals.”
