Advocacy is at the core of NATO of Michigan's work. Engaging with elected officials has the power to drive meaningful change for movie exhibition and the movie-going experience by:

  • Providing access to and influencing decision makers within state government

  • Helping shape public policy and legislation

  • Educating others about issues that could negatively impact or advance the industry

NATO of Michigan’s lobbyist, Karoub Associates monitors all relevant legislation, keeps members apprised of happenings, and issues call to action when advocacy is needed. You can be assured as critical discussions are taking place in Lansing, NATO of Michigan is at the table.


Opposed legislation that called for modifying sales and use tax on certain food items, protecting the exemption of bottled water, candy, food sold in an unheated state, and food sold with eating utensils.
